Seven out of ten countries arrived to Sakhalin to participate In the WPAS World Cup

Anya Shkutel-Svetich (Croatia), the director of the World Cup in Alpine skiing for people with musculoskeletal disorders, the blind and visually impaired, arrived on Sakhalin. Also, athletes from Slovakia and Poland arrived to the region to participate in the World Paralympic Alpine Skiing World Cup "Sakhalin 2020". 

Igor Sikorsky, the winner of the Paralympic games in Pyeongchang will defend the honor of Poland. 

The Slovak team consists of Marek Kubachka with the guide Maria Zatovikova and Miroslav Haraus, the bronze medal winner at the Paralympic games in Vancouver, silver in Sochi, and gold and bronze in Pyeongchang with the guide Maros Hudik. Both skiers will take part in the World Cup in the category of visually impaired athletes. 

"It's been a long flight, but we're glad to arrive on your land. We had never been here before, we liked Sakhalin according to first impression - there are a lots of snow, and it is very well" - said Maria Setevikov. 

Anya of Scutel-Svetich visit Sakhalin for the second time. For the first time, she visited the island region in June 2019 to inspect the Sportivnaya track that was selected for the competition. In the summer, Anya was satisfied with the island slopes. 

- I can't wait to see what the track looks like in winter and how the world Cup will be held. According to the results of these competitions, I will report to the international Paralympic Committee, - said Anya Shkutel-Svetich. 

Let us remember that the World Cup in the World Paralympic Alpine Skiing "Sakhalin 2020" will be held from 9 to 21 February. About 40 athletes from 10 countries will take part in the competition. Skiers from seven countries have already arrived on Sakhalin. On February 8, at 13:25, the last teams representing France, Norway and Italy, as well as the Russian team of the Federation of blind and visually impaired athletes, will arrive on the island.
