Laura Valeanu will represent Romania in the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup final. Competition will be held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city in 2021. A 31-year-old athlete with an acquired musculoskeletal lesion competes in the standing category.
Laura started skiing at the age of 5 and later became the national champion of Romania. But in 2006, the girl got into an accident, after which the skier had to retrain and go into para-sport. She was selected as Romania's flag bearer at the opening ceremonies of the Paralympic Winter Games in 2010 and 2014, and also competed for medals in Vancouver and Sochi. In 2018, she was unable to participate in the Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang due to injury, but she does not intend to miss the winter Games in Beijing, which scheduled for 2022.
